Can't perform simple tasks like set a timer or check on a timer. It's called advanced, but it is a very large step backwards. Naturally, the only way to disable it is through some convoluted steps in Google's clusterfu of a Home app, which I still have not located. I was excited about this, but now I'm disappointed that they pushed this out before it was even close to ready. It is still unable to use so many of the features I use with Google Assistant. You can still switch back to the Assistant fairly easy, but this should not be marketed as the replacement if it can't even do what it needs to. Not ready for prime time. As an assistant, it's horrible. It's so slow, can't perform assistant functions, requires unlock access even to say the weather, and only has the 1 robotic male voice option. As AI, it's sometimes good and other times straingly not AI...spitting out results that feel more like biased training than actual AI. Someday hopefully, but not yet. ** update** So it works pretty good and I'm assuming it depends on your phone as well. I'm running it on Samsung Galaxy s21 Ultra. It does do the simple tasks like schedule reminders and alarms. It can open apps and search for video. It can easily plan a trip find all the cheapest flights and you just have to book it. I've noticed it doesn't always work and it looks like it switches between Google assistant and Gemini like two separate apps they quickly combined so I'm sure it will get better.2024-12-06 21:39:32

Wants to replace Assistant, but can't perform simple tasks. Can't do much as set a reminder with it, uninstalled within a minute of installing it. A great example of putting the cart before the horse. EDIT 03/03/2024: this functionality was present for a bit but now it's gone again. I'd given it 3 stars when it was working, but back to 1 star since it's now missing. Google really needs to get it's Assistant replacement to work as an assistant.2024-12-06 00:25:57

Slow to respond. Do yourself a favor: don't ask it to navigate somewhere like you could with the previous Google Assistant. On multiple occasions I have asked it to navigate me to a local business and instead it will navigate me to a location literally hundreds of miles away and multiple states away (I asked it to navigate to the nearest Walgreens). Two stars because it can at least figure out how to start a timer with voice commands.2024-12-04 19:54:34
